Frequently Asked Questions and Answers on your Khao Sok Visit
Visiting a foreign country and an adventurous destination like Khao Sok is an exciting endeavor. With many visitors to Khao Sok asking several questions about staying at Our Jungle Camp, the Khao Sok National Park, or Cheow Lan Lake with its famous Floating Bungalows. We’ve done our best to answer the most common and frequently asked questions to prepare you for your visit to the jungle and rainforest of Khao Sok National Park.

Resort
I would like to reserve a room at Our Jungle Camp, how do I secure my booking?
We collect a deposit to confirm your reservation. The specific deposit amount depends on the booked services.
- A deposit of 1,000 THB per room booking is required, for long stay bookings with more than 3 nights, a daily 1,000 /500 THB deposit applies per Treehouse / Bungalow booked.
- Inbound Transfers and Private Basic Tour arrangements (Overnight Camping, Birdwatching, Private – Full Day and Overnight Lake Tours) require an additional 1,000 THB deposit per vehicle / person.
- All Private Superior, Deluxe and Wildlife Explorer Lake Tours require a 50% deposit payment.
- Walk-In and on Arrival Tours will require full payment to confirm the arrangement .
The deposit can be made with any major credit card or bank transfer through our paymentgateway Flywire.

Do Our Jungle Camp´s rooms have mosquito nets?
Yes, every bed in every room at Our Jungle Camp is provided with a mosquito net. We also provide mosquito coils which you can burn to keep away insects while you’re not using the net.
Is Our Jungle Camp a Child Friendly Accommodation in Khao Sok?
Of course! We are able to provide child beds for your room, baby seats for private transfers, and provide several child-friendly activities. Guests are also welcome to join the camps we provide for Thai and Foreign Children on site.
What amenities are offered at Our Jungle Camp ?
- Phone Reception and 4G-Bandwidth is available throughout the resort grounds, and Free Wifi access is openly available at the reception, bar and restaurant area. Please use the access code: manager1234
- Complimentary purified water is available in your room, restaurant, and bar. Please bring your reusable bottle to keep our environmental impact as low as possible.
- Our Tree Houses and Bungalow Rooms have a safe deposit box, and along with luggage storage, our reception has locker boxes. Khao Sok is a very safe place. Nonetheless, we recommend applying commonsense and expect our guests not to leave valuables lying around carelessly. Our Jungle Camp cannot take any responsibility in case of self-inflicted losses or damages of belongings.
What is the Check-in and Check-out time at Our Jungle Camp?
Check-in is at 14:00 pm and check-out is at 11:00 am. Guests are welcome to leave their luggage during early check-ins / late check-outs in our luggage room. Further, we offer shower facilities for clients returning to Our Jungle Camp in Khao Sok from Cheow Lan Lake Tours.
What time do your facilities open and close?
Our Reception abd Restaurant is open from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm, and Our Jungle Bar offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from 5:00pm and stays open late (usually until 11:00 pm).
Can we walk to Khao Sok Village or is it too far?
Our Jungle Camp is located 1.2 km from Khao Sok Town center or the park entrance. It is approximately a 15-minute walk, depending on your pace. It is an easy walk and there are plenty of facilities and ATMs in town.
If you’d like to go to the bus stop on the main road, it is 2.5 km from our resort. We can arrange for a local taxi to drop you off for 50 baht per person.
How can we pay at Our Jungle Camp ?
We can currently only accept cash payments at the resort, and ATM facilities are available 10 minutes away from the resort. If you intend to pay via foreign currency, we would recommend exchanging a sufficient amount before your visit.
How can I cancel, change or amend my booking with Our Jungle Camp?

Khao Sok
Which transfers can we book with Our Jungle Camp to Khao Sok and how does it work?
If you are interested in staying at Our Jungle Camp, we recommend using our Private Minivan and Private Car transfer for pick-up and drop-offs. Our local drivers are on time and reliant, through this convenient connection you will be able to make the most out of your time in Khao Sok. Just let us know the time and location, and we are happy to provide arrival and departure transfers from all major destinations in Southern Thailand. Private Minivans can fit eight passengers plus luggage, and Private Car transfers transport up to three passengers with luggage.
Please book your inbound and arrival transfers in advance with our reservations team, your outbound and departure transfers can be arranged with our reception team upon arrival.

Is there parking at the resort if we bring our own car?
If you plan to self-drive and arrive on your own to Khao Sok, we have sufficient protected parking space next to our reception area for your motorbikes, cars, or bicycles, protected by our security personnel.

What is the closest airport to Our Jungle Camp in Khao Sok?
Surat Thani Airport (URT) is closest to Our Jungle Camp and Khao Sok, transfers take around 1.5 hours to our hotel. Krabi Airport (KBV) is about 2.5 hours and Phuket Airport (HKT) is about 3 hours’ drive away from Khao Sok Town.
Can I Arrive with Public Transport to Our Jungle Camp in Khao Sok?
You can reach Khao Sok by public transport from the most significant hubs in Southern Thailand. You can take a bus or shared minivan from Surat Thani town departing approximately every hour, a shared van from Krabi, or a public bus from Phuket Town or Khao Lak. Departure times for communal vans and public buses can vary, but services typically start from 08.00 AM until the early afternoon from each destination.
Please note that public transport will drop you off at the public bus stop along the National Highway 401. It is another 2.5 KM to reach Our Jungle Camp. We recommend you to take a shared taxi to our location, at the price of 50 baht per person.
What isn’t included in the price?
We aim to keep our guests well informed about what to expect to pay when you visit our resort.
What is not included:
- Room and activity prices shown on the website DO NOT include the 7% VAT government tax.
- All food, drinks, tours, and accommodation are subjected to an additional 7% government VAT tax which will be added to your bill upon check out.
- Our room rates exclude breakfast. Our extensive A´La Carte Menu offers prices from 70 THB to 200 THB per meal.
- The cost of meals, transfers, and activities is not included in the room price.
- All meals, transfers, and tours you purchase during your stay will be added to your bill, which is due upon checkout.
- Please note that all activities done in the park and at the lake require you to pay park entry fees of 300 baht per person.
- Children under 14 are charged half price, and for Thai Nationals it’s 60 baht per person.
How can I continue my travels from Khao Sok ?
After your visit to Khao Sok or Cheow Lan Lake has come to an end there are various options to continue to all major destinations in Southern Thailand. The most frequently visited locations are Koh Tao, Koh Samui or Koh Phang Ngan. Which can be reached with three daily ferries departing at 09:00 am 11:30 am and 15:30 pm from Tapee Pier in Surat Thani.

That very much depends on your departure destination and form of transportation but the following departure times apply:

Tours & Activities
When shall I book my Khao Sok Tours and Activities?
The only activity services that need to be booked in advance are private pickups, Khao Sok based birdwatching, camping, and Cheow Lan private lake tours. For Join-In / Group lake tours, we would appreciate advance notice, but you can conveniently book the day before the tour departure. All other Khao Sok Activities & Tours can be scheduled the same day, with pending availability.
I am travelling to Khao Sok by myself/on my own, can I still join in with lake tours, hikes and other activities ?
Yes, Our Jungle Camp offers most of its tours on a Join-In / SIC arrangements for Solo Travelers. Please let us know at your earliest convenience so that we can join you with one of our group tours. Both the Full Day and Overnight lake tours are suitable for solo travelers. Please note that a 1,100 THB Single Surcharge (SS) applies to single-room arrangements.
Which tours do you recommend for families?
Most Khao Sok tours are family-friendly; however, if you have very young children or toddlers, it is best to discuss and fit the tour arrangements to your children’s abilities. Our Reception team are fully informed and will be able to provide reliable information for you upon arrival. You may like to book our tours as a ‘private’ option to allow more flexibility to your children’s needs.

Which tours can we do on our arrival day?
Our last departures for canoe and elephant activities are typically at 3 pm. We can also arrange a trip to the viewpoint and hot springs (best enjoyed in rainy season) at 5 pm or a night safari around 7 pm. A massage is also a great way to relax and unwind on your first arrival day in Khao Sok, and we can provide this until 8 pm.
We are travelling to Khao Sok with small children, are we able to do the lake trip?
In general yes, the youngest guests we have had on a Lake Trip have been 2 – 3 years old. In this case, there is the option to skip the jungle hike and just relax at the raft house to swim and enjoy a kayak! Please keep in mind that we always recommend Private Trips for families, espcially with younger children. Let us know in advance if you would require a child’s life vest for your day or overnight trip.
I am only booking a Lake Tour with Our Jungle Camp, how does this work?
If you are only booking your Lake tour with Our Jungle Camp, we offer you the option to join us from Our Jungle Camp at 8:30 am, or we can pick you up from Khao Sok Morning Mist Mini Mart in town between 8:45 – 9:00 am.
We offer luggage storage here at our resort, or you can also store your luggage at our partner’s office in Ban Ta Khun, near the lake, close to Ban Ta Khun bus stop for convenient departure after your lake visit.
Day to Day Life
How’s the Weather in Khao Sok?
The weather in Khao Sok has two main seasons, the rainy season and the dry season. Daytime highs are generally around 30º C, with nightly lows in the mid to low 20s. Khao Sok is the wettest area of Thailand, getting up to 4 meters of torrential rain a year. Although most of this comes in the middle of the rainy season (June – October) but it can rain any time of year.
Are there Mosquitos in Khao Sok ?
Due to the surrounding Limestone Karsts with their high calcium content, in all water sources, we usually do not experience many mosquitoes. Nonetheless, do we recommend visitors to use Mosquito spray and coils as well as Mosquito netting during your stay, especially in the early mornings and afternoon.
Are there Monkeys at Our Jungle Camp?
Are there Leeches in Khao Sok?
Leeches and other small Parasites are commonly found during rainy season amongst many forest trails but be assured those crawlers entirely harmless. However, their bites do cause slight bleeding for about 15 minutes. There are no Leeches around Our Jungle Camp, but if you are going hiking during the rainy season, you should check with the staff or your hiking guide about the best way to keep them off.
Health Awareness
Although Khao Sok is a safe place to visit, the high humidity and temperature can cause guests to be more easily dehydrated and exhausted. It is important for guests not to overexert themselves physically and drink lots of water.
Mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria are incredibly rare to non-existent in the area. This counts especially for visitors, thus it is not mandatory to take anti-malarial medications for your visit to Khao Sok.
First Aid
Our Jungle Camp´s staff undergoes basic First Aid Training twice a year, further are our guides and staff equipped with emergency first aid knowledge, First Aid Kits as well as Emergency Response procedures.
Nearby Medical Care
The closest local hospital for minor injuries and conditions is 40 minutes away located in Takuapa town. For more serious injuries or conditions, Our Jungle Camp recommends an International Clinic in Khao Lak (approx. 1 hour’s drive away) or international hospitals both in Surat Thani (2 hours away) or Phuket (3 hours away).
