Tours and Activities
When shall I book my Khao Sok Tours and Activities?
The only activities that need to be booked in advance are private pickup, birdwatching, camping, and private lake tours. For group lake tours, we would appreciate advance notice, but can be booked the day before the tour departure. All other tours can be booked the same day, pending availability.
I am travelling by myself, can I still join a Lake tour?
Yes. Both the Full Day and Overnight lake tour offer a ‘Join-in’ option which is suitable for solo travellers.
Which tours do you recommend for families?
Most tours are family friendly; however, if you have very young children or toddlers, it is best to discuss the tour suitability to your children’s abilities. Our Reception team are fully informed and will be able to provide reliable information for you upon arrival. You may like to book our tours as a ‘private’ option to allow more flexibility to your children’s needs.
Which tours can we do on our arrival day?
Our last departures for canoe and elephant activities is typically 3pm. We can also arrange a trip to the viewpoint and hot springs at 5pm or a night safari around 7pm. A massage is also a great way to relax and unwind on your first day, we can provide this until 8pm.
We are travelling with small children, are we able to do the lake trip?
In general yes, the youngest guests we have had on a Lake Trip have been 2 – 3 years old. In this case, there is the option to skip the jungle hike and just stay at the raft house to swim and enjoy a kayak! How’s the Weather?
The weather in Khao Sok has two main seasons, the rainy season and the dry season. Daytime highs are generally around 30º C, with nightly lows in the mid to low 20s. Khao Sok is the wettest area of Thailand, getting up to 4 meters of rain a year. Although most of this comes in the middle of rainy season (June – October) but it can rain any time of year.
Due to the surrounding Limestone Karsts with their high calcium content, in all water sources we usually do not experience many mosquitoes. Nonetheless do we recommend visitors to use Mosquito spray and coils as well as Mosquito netting during your stay.
We ask you to not feed the monkeys at the resort and urge you to close your doors and windows during dawn and dusk hours as Macaque Monkey pay frequent visits to our resort and very much enjoy our guest’s food and hygienic products.
Leeches are commonly found during rainy season amongst all forest trails but are completely harmless, although their bites do cause bleeding for about 15 minutes. It is not an issue around the camp, but if you are going hiking during rainy season, you should check with the staff or your hiking guide about the best way to keep them off.
Although Khao Sok is a safe place to visit, the high humidity and temperature can cause guests to be more easily dehydrated and exhausted. It is important for guests not to overexert themselves physically and drink lots of water.
Mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue and Malaria are incredibly rare for visitors, thus it is not mandatory to take anti-malarial medications for your visit to Khao Sok.
Our Jungle Camp´s staff undergoes basic First Aid Training twice a year, further are our guides equipped with emergency first aid knowledge, First Aid Kits as well as Emergency Response procedures.
